The Accents English Literacy Programme provides English-speaking children with the opportunity to maintain and develop their English skills to the same level as their peers in the UK in a fun and friendly environment.
Through the use of the latest materials from the UK, our experienced and qualified English teachers have developed a course which broadly follows the UK Revised Framework for Literacy but remains flexible enough to meet the individual needs of children growing up in France and attending French schools. Each child's individual language background can be taken into account as we limit our class sizes to a maximum of 15 children.
Focus is given to the development and understanding of spelling rules and patterns, and to all aspects of English grammar. Children are also given the opportunity to develop their own texts to suit a wide range of purposes and creative exercises are encouraged. Where possible, classes incorporate elements of British culture, history and geography to broaden their knowledge of the UK.
We cater for children from approximately Foundation year through to KS3 in preparation for the iGCSE (Grande section upwards).
Civray classes are scheduled for 2 hours on Wednesdays during term time with Jarrnac classes on Saturday mornings.
Tariffs: The fees for 2009/10 will once again remain at the same level, the third year without an increase. There is an initial registration fee of 95€ per child which is required to purchase the necessary materials, followed by 10 monthly payments of 40€. All materials, text books and resources are included in the fees so there are no hidden costs later. Membership of the association is paid separately and costs 25€ per family.

Hear what our parents have to say about Accents:
" I would like to say a huge thankyou to all the Accents team for their hard work and dedication over the last year, the teachers are obviously highly motivated and passionate about teaching children and it shows. Prior to my child starting the programme, I had not encountered the Ruth Miskin method of teaching and have been really impressed by this effective, fun and fast way of learning to read and write. We are really lucky to have access to this programme in France so well done and keep up the good work! " VP
"Having three children at very different literacy levels, I was desperate to find a way to keep their English up to the same levels as friends 'back home'. Accents has helped me to achieve this through their expert teachers and carefully chosen materials. I would recommend this course to any parent for whom English is important." JD.
"When we moved to France with an 8 year old and a 4 year old we felt it important to keep the children up to speed with all aspects of the English language. My 8 year old daughter could read and we have kept this up, but found that her writing skills were falling behind. I was relieved to find Accents had started up near us. I enrolled my daughter. Although she has sometimes found it hard, as she has a slight learning disability, I do feel it has helped her immensely. For the future I feel it absolutely vital that her spoken and written language skills are excellent, the world is getting smaller and there are many more people who have the language skills to compete in the job market, every edge we can give our children is a bonus. Also in college she can take English as another language, this will be a great confidence booster as, hopefully, she will be near the top of the class. I have now enrolled my son, he is now 7 and really enjoying it. " LP
