Some of the testimonials from our past and present parents;
“Accents was crucial in maintaining my child's level of English when moving to France. The teachers are competent and encouraging and the program they follow is excellent. As we could not find any similar offering in our area, we travel quite a bit for classes every week. However, the effort has really paid off in that my child continues to be fluent in English, and moreover, progresses. Finding a class with other native English-speaking children was also very important for us." K Johansson
We are in in our 4th year of Accents and although it's a 3 hour round trip it is well worth it. Matty and Keir have very little contact with other native English speaking children so a weekly opportunity to meet up and work in a small group with qualified English teachers is invaluable. Accents also provides us with a clear framework and resources for our children's literacy development. Both our children were born overseas and have never been to school in the UK, I feel Accents offers an alternative approach to learning which complements and enhances their experience in the French education system. Through our involvement in Accents I feel my children have access to the best of both cultures! N Levick
“When my youngest son started learning to read and write in French, I was concerned that although he spoke English he had never learned to read or write in English. I enrolled him at Accents when he was 4 years old. He settled in really well as it has a very friendly atmosphere. He loves the teachers and enjoys going to class. Now 8 years old, he has learned to read and write with confidence in English and is at the same level as his peers in the UK. I felt it was very important for his future to learn English because if for any reason we have to return to the UK he will be able to fit into school without any fears or problems. I would highly recommend Accents to any English speaking parents of young children living in France. We all want the best possible future for our children and being both bi-lingual and bi-literate will give them the best possible start. D Gray
“After moving back to the UK my girls have settled into school very well. They are both in the classes they should be and have not been held back. Amma in particular has excelled in her reading abilities. I feel that she would be much further behind if it hadn't been for Accents. The teachers are very happy with their progress. I am very glad that the girls attended Accents and I feel that it benefited them both education wise and socially. I would definitely recommend Accents to anybody with school aged children that would like to maintain a high level of English literacy”. Gina DS
"Thank you again for teaching Miles and Milly - it has been a really important part of their education that will make it much easier for them to fit back into the UK system. If Milly hadn't had the help she needed from Accents to start her off reading in English she wouldn't have had the language knowledge she needed to pass her Verbal Reasoning element of the 11+ so it really has been brilliant"
"When our daughter first started school in France she felt stupid and lost all her confidence due to the lack of language skills. But since attending Accents she has come on leaps and bounds and is now a very confident out going little girl. Attending Accents was a great help with her coming to grips with the French language as she could transfer her English literacy skills. We are extremely proud of the fact that she is always in the top 3 or 4 of her class at school and is doing extremely well at Accents too. So thank you Accents". LDR
" I would like to say a huge thankyou to all the Accents team for their hard work and dedication over the last year, the teachers are obviously highly motivated and passionate about teaching children and it shows. Prior to my child starting the programme, I had not encountered the Ruth Miskin method of teaching and have been really impressed by this effective, fun and fast way of learning to read and write. We are really lucky to have access to this programme in France so well done and keep up the good work! " VP
"Having three children at very different literacy levels, I was desperate to find a way to keep their English up to the same levels as friends 'back home'. Accents has helped me to achieve this through their expert teachers and carefully chosen materials. I would recommend this course to any parent for whom English is important." JD.
"When we moved to France with an 8 year old and a 4 year old we felt it important to keep the children up to speed with all aspects of the English language. My 8 year old daughter could read and we have kept this up, but found that her writing skills were falling behind. I was relieved to find Accents had started up near us. I enrolled my daughter. Although she has sometimes found it hard, as she has a slight learning disability, I do feel it has helped her immensely. For the future I feel it absolutely vital that her spoken and written language skills are excellent, the world is getting smaller and there are many more people who have the language skills to compete in the job market, every edge we can give our children is a bonus. Also in college she can take English as another language, this will be a great confidence booster as, hopefully, she will be near the top of the class. I have now enrolled my son, he is now 7 and really enjoying it. " LP
